This week we had a choice - one year ago we held our last official physical event (away from our rehearsal venue) before lockdown, when we joined UWE LGBT+ society and the UWE singers for a joint rehearsal at 'their place', but we covered that in the recent review of the year, so instead, let's head back 9 years to 2012...
One In Ten Concert | Victoria Rooms | February 4th 2012
Our first performance at the Victoria Rooms, which first opened to the public in May 1842 and for many years served as the most important and lively cultural centre in the West of England,.playing host in 1852 to Charles Dickens!
The name
'One In Ten' came from the widely acknowledged statistic that around 10% of the population are LGBT+. The set list was split into decades, with each section preceeded by a brief spoken introduction, charting the significant events in the decade affecting LGBT culture.
