  • Type of event: Performance
    Venue: Alma Church
Description: One of our more difficult performances.

We were asked to perform at one of our own member's memorial services, at Alma Church, arranged by a support group that Ricardo, a former Sing Out Bristol Bass, had belonged to.  The service was particularly moving as it featured eulogies and speeches from people Ricardo had helped, through the group.

Our performance proved very emotional for both the audience and ourselves and was a fitting way to say goodbye to someone who had found happiness, albeit short-lived, in the choir.

His friend Leila, told us that she could always tell when Ricardo had been to a choir rehearsal on a Tuesday evening, as he would come home with a spring in his step and would sing around the house.

Afterwards, we received this thank you message from Leila, who also organised the day:
"Thank you so very much for coming along with the choir and making it a great service.  You really helped lift the spirits in the room and contributed to the opening of our hearts.  You were all amazing.
Pass on my heartfelt thank you to each and every person who helped make that possible."

Ricardo kept a blog about his life, 'love as an existence' which is still online.
